Aug 2010 - Fractal Audio systems welcomes LA composer Shawn Patterson to its family of artists. Shawn is the composer-in-residence, songwriter, and music producer for the emmy-award-winning television series Robot Chicken, and also performs similar dutuies for the shows Robot Chicken Star Wars III, and Titan Maximum. He uses the Axe-Fx Ultra. His work will debut on shows airing December 2010.
Shawn discovered the Axe-Fx through fellow Fractal artist Dweezil Zappa, whose Zappa Plays Zappa bandmate Jamie Kime is a mutual friend.
"I hung with Dweezil in Ventura where he spent an hour with me showing me his rig. My jaw fell open."
He ordered an Axe-Fx Ultra of his own, which he uses for amp tone simulation and as a guitar effects processor.
"On a heavy episodic television schedule composing and producing guitar based music is very tough. You are always needing a wide range of tones to sound like a wide range of bands or sounds. On Robot Chicken, I am constantly recording guitars that need an insanely wide range of different tones."
Shawn explains that beyond versatility, he appreciates how easy it is to get great guitar sounds with the Axe-Fx.
"My Ultra is the absolute pinnacle of playability and great tone. Straight out of the unit and into my computer there is no equal in terms of tonal quality, range of presets and ease of use. I have literally sold all my other amps because whatever everything else does, the Fractal can do it just as well -- faster, and with no ear splitting microphones in the room. I am simply blown away."
We look forward to Shawn's continued work on Robot Chicken and other projects.
