All Atomic Amplifiers amplifiers are designed by the legendary amp guru, Harry Kolbe to bring pure analog musicality to today's digital technology. Our new flagship amplifier, The Reactor FR replaces our discontinued docking station models (the Reactor 112, 112-50 and 212-50).
The Reactor FR is a musical instrument in its own right—designed and built with the performing or
studio guitarist in mind, but also extremely effective for keyboards and
other electronic instruments, or any application where a full range
powered speaker system is needed. The 50w dual 6L6 power section is based on our award-winning Reactor 112-50, which the Reactor FR replaces.
The Atomic Reactor FR is the result of our design team’s tireless efforts
to create a superior sounding amplifier for the modern digital guitar rig. A
timeless, all-analog showpiece, the FR ensures that preamps, modelers
and simulations will sound their very best, by imparting to these products
the genuine feel of a real tube amp. Even as digital guitar
technology advances, the Reactor FR will remain a viable and valuable
investment in tone.
The power amplifier employs one 12AX7 and two EL-6L6GC vacuum
tubes to deliver full-rated power over a full frequency response, with
high headroom and very low distortion. In other words, this is an amp
“without an opinion”. It will amplify but not color or alter the tone of the
input signal. When the sound source is a digitally created model or
simulation, however, the Reactor FR is able to restore the musical
characteristics and feel that we usually expect only from a well-designed
analog tube amp.
The speaker system consists of a 12” speaker, a 4” tweeter, and a
crossover network. It is correspondingly wide and smooth, without
sharp peaks or ragged response. The high efficiency of the cabinet
design, coupled with the dynamic abilities of the amp and speaker,
provides a level of performance that one would expect only from an much
more powerful system. Through the use of a function switch and jack, the amp may be used to
drive an external speaker, or the internal speaker may be used with an external amplifier.
The Reactor FR ushers in a new era for Atomic Amplifiers by unleashing the power of a tube powered full-range guitar system at a time when digital music technology is reaching new highs with products like the Axe-FX series of guitar amp simulators and studio effects processors.

Today's digital guitar technology offers incredible flexibility, with the ability to toggle berween classic and innovative tones at the touch of a button. Guitar amp and effect modelling brings the most coveted vintage equipment into headphones and studios everywhere, but using these sounds for performance has previously meant meeting big challenges or accepting big compromises. No more!
Don't plug your high end modeller into a high end guitar amp! Why? Because traditional guitar amps are not made to reproduce the sound that these units produce. Going direct into a PA system is better, but leaves you missing the feel of an amp on the floor or "in your face."
The Reactor FR solves all of these problems by delivering the frequency response of a full range system, the dynamics, feel, and familiar format of a tube amp, the flexible controls of a musical instrument, all in an easily portable package at a price that outcompetes the best alternatives.
