About The Workspace Directory
Starting with version 0.9.171, Axe-Edit will ask you to designate a "workspace" directory when it is first run (rather than during the installation as happened with previous versions.) The workspace is the default location for banks, presets and other files and folders. Its sub folders can be easily accessed through shortcuts in the OPEN and SAVE dialogs of Axe-Edit. The new default location is less restrictive than that used by previous versions and will also allow different users of the same computer to have their own Axe-Edit data.
When you first run Axe-Edit, the program will suggest using a "Fractal Audio" subdirectory in your computer's default Documents location. You may also freely select to use any other folder.
If Axe-Edit locates a workspace from a previous installation you will be given the option to set a new location and COPY the files from the old one to it. Alternately, you can simply set the new workspace to use the old location, either manually or simply by pressing CANCEL when you are asked to select a new location. In any case, Axe-Edit will never delete your files or folders during workspace selection!
Thanks for your constructive feedback during the ongoing beta test.
