Axe-Edit Software Editor/Manager for the Axe-Fx

Axe-Edit is the companion editor/manager for the Axe-Fx. It offers a faster, smarter, easier way to edit and manage your Axe-FX, as well as providing a basis for our future software products. Axe Edit is currently in BETA and is not yet officially supported by Fractal Audio Systems, but knowledgeable help can be obtained through our user forum.

WHAT'S NEW

  • LATEST AXE-FX FIRMWARE is now fully supported.
  • REDESIGNED LOOK AND FEEL makes it easier to read and navigate. Assess presets at a glance.
  • ENHANCED XML SKINNING greatly increases redesign flexibility
  • INTUITIVE EDITOR LAYOUTS put knobs where you expect them, reducing page turning and speeding workflow
  • SOURCE SELECTION allows direct access to BANKS and PRESETS (as well as a connected Axe-Fx) greatly reduces the need for a typical user to open the Preset Manager.
  • MENUS for RECALL and SAVE AS perform basic preset management right in the main editor: Save to a new location, import/export SYX or CSV files, revert to the saved version, sync to/from the edit buffer, and more.
  • SYNC features gets presets from your hardware to the software without Preset Manager. Grayed names identify entries you have not synced in the current session.
  • ONE STEP BACKUP of all three banks in your Axe-FX Ultra or Standard.
  • SNAPSHOT copies your current edit to the preset manager SPILL/SCRATCH area, allowing you to go back later and revisit cool milestones.
  • AND MORE: Undo/Redo up to 50 grid operations; Initialize or clear any block (or the whole preset), toggle bypass via middle-click, view midi troubleshooting log, plus bug fixes too numerous to list and assorted additional features listed in the release notes.
  • New in v0.9.99: Amp names appear in the preset name display, folders for all assets (banks, presets, etc) are user specifiable, new circular knob mode, several open/new/save dialog enhancements (more to come), better support for multiple instances, many many bug fixesm usability/performance improvements, AND MORE.
  • New in v0.9.102: Support for Axe-Fx OS (9.02). Numerous bug fixes.
  • New in v0.9.123: Support for Axe-Fx OS (9.03). Added keyboard & mouse shortcuts. New "Save As" options. Numerous bug fixes.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • OS: Mac OS X 10.4+ (Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Def Leppard), Windows 2K+ (2000, XP, Vista, Windows7, 32-bit or 64-bit versions)
  • CPU: P4+, G4+, Core Duo+
  • Memory: 1GB+
  • Video: 1024x768+ with 32-bit color
  • Disk space: ~150MB (for advanced preset management). Initial install requires ~30MB.
  • MIDI: I/O interface with current drivers (sound card optional).

INSTALLATION

  • Mac Install: Open the downloaded dmg and run setup.mpkg to install.
  • PC Install: Run the downloaded installer to install. It is recomended you uninstall any previous versions first.

IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU COMPLETELY UNINSTALL/REMOVE PREVIOUS BETA VERSIONS BEFORE UPGRADING.

If you have custom presets which you saved to disk with previous builds of Axe Edit, you may wish to back up your existing presets folder first:

  • Mac : /Applications/Axe-Edit.app/Contents/MacOS/Presets
  • Windows 32 bit: C:\Program Files\Fractal\Axe-Edit\Presets
  • Windows 64 bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Fractal\Axe-Edit\Presets
