FIRMWARE / EMBEDDED SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Fractal Audio Systems is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our engineering department. As a Firmware / Embedded Systems Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for real-time firmware development. This critical role involves working closely with other engineers and designers on our high-performance, high-quality audio products, from concept through production. You will also support the maintenance of embedded code written for other real-time operating systems and assist in porting existing algorithms to new environments.
Qualified applicants should have demonstrable experience developing and testing system-level applications and board support in C/C++ and Assembly in an embedded OS or bare-metal environment. Additional experience with real-time applications in Linux is desirable. Candidates with pro audio industry experience will be moved to the front of the line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain board support packages for real-time OS environments such as FreeRTOS.
- Port and maintain DSP algorithms for embedded audio applications.
- Port, develop, and maintain GUI applications for embedded audio products.
- Develop high-performance applications for RTOS platforms.
- Optimize audio and control algorithms for embedded environments.
- Test code, product prototypes, and finished products.
- Contribute across other aspects of product development and release cycles.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in C and C++.
- Experience with RTOS-based embedded development.
- Familiarity with Analog Devices and TI microcontrollers and DSPs.
- Experience with USB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth communication protocols.
- Familiarity with hardware interfaces like SPI, I2C, UART, etc.
- Experience with debugging tools like JTAG, GDB, and serial consoles.
- Experience using hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, MSOs, and logic analyzers.
- Experience with Linux and U-Boot board support and application development (preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate in a highly cooperative remote team environment.
- Musical background or working knowledge of pro audio equipment (preferred).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
