The Axe-Fx II all-in-one preamp/effects processor includes an incredible virtual collection of hundreds of vintage and modern guitar amps, speaker cabs, guitar stompbox and studio effects. It accurately recreates the sound and feel of real amps, cabs, and effects and is ideal for both live and studio use. It has superb sound and unrivalled power and flexibility, offering even greater freedom than traditional guitar amps and effects. Despite some of the world's most advanced guitar technology, it is easy to use.
The Axe-Fx II can be completely controlled from the front panel via knobs, buttons, and a large backlit LCD display. The large VALUE knob is used for most setting cha nges, while four smaller QUICK CONTROL knobs give you hands-on access to extra parameters.
In the digital world, more power equals the capability for better sound. The Axe-Fx II is the world's most powerful all-in-one guitar processor, with two state-of-the-art Analog Devices TigerSHARC Digital Signal Processors working in tandem. One is devoted solely to amp modeling while the other handles effects and other processing.
All this power is put to good use in G2 Amp Modeling Technology.™ G2 provides both preamp and power amp modeling for dynamics and tone other modellers simply cannot match. G2 also models the entire power amp including the tubes, transformers, choke, filter caps and more. The results are amazing: warm, yet tight bass, powerful midrange, silky highs, and the easy feel that makes playing a great amp so enjoyable. There are 100+ amp models onboard, including all of the classics plus today's coolest boutique offerings.
Firmware version 10.0 took our amp modeling to the next level with Multi-point Iterative Matching and Impedance Correction (MIMIC™) technology. MIMIC identifies deviations in the response of the simulated amplifier to the actual amplifier and generates corrective data bringing a level of accuracy that has been heretofore unachievable.
Tone Matching matches the sound of the Axe-Fx to that of a reference signal, such as a recording or the feed from a mic on a live amp. This allows you to clone any tone. The result can be saved directly into the preset where it was created, or exported as a User Cab IR for use in other presets. All amp and effect settings are fully editable in presets using Tone Match.
The Axe-Fx II features a high resolution speaker simulator with 76 models and 50 user cab memories. locations. Combined with G2 Amp Modelling, this allows you to create the sound of a cranked amp at any volume. Preset cabs include custom blends from the RedWirez and Ownhammer collections. You can even capture the sound of any speaker with built-in IR capture tools.
The Axe-Fx is known for its ultra-realistic recreations of classic stomp boxes and rack processor effects. Effect models can be dialed in with a single knob to make all required settings for great sound in seconds, or tweaked at the deepest levels with extended parameter options and a completely modular approach to virtual rig design. Effects include tape, analog "bucket brigade" and vintage digital delays, “script" and "block" logo phasers, 'vibe and many many more. Many of the effects have also been updated and enhanced on the Axe-Fx II, offering new sounds and useful features.
The Axe-Fx II also offers the industry's most flexible routing and realtime control, with options for both MIDI and a great range of internal sources: sweepy LFOs, dynamic Envelopes, a sequencer, and more.
Tone Matching allows the Axe-Fx to replicate the tone of a reference signal, such as a recording or the feed from a mic on a live amp. Results can be saved on the Axe-Fx or exported to share with others. All amp and effect settings are fully editable in presets using Tone Matching, giving you the full flexibility and depth of the entire Axe-Fx engine. The feel and tone stand up to extreme adjustment, so you have not just a snapshot but a world of tone in every preset.
The Axe-Fx II has a host of USB connectivity features. Connected to your Mac or PC, it becomes a 2x4 Audio Interface with 1x1 high speed MIDI. This allows you to record the main processed outputs and simultaneously capture a "dry" track for re-amping later. You can also monitor or process computer audio tracks with the Axe-Fx II. 1x1 high speed MIDI-over-USB eliminates the need for a separate MIDI interface and makes editing with Axe-Edit, our free editor librarian software easier than ever before..
The Axe-Fx II offers a range of essential input and outputs. Alongside balanced XLR outs, the ¼" unbalanced outputs feature our new Humbuster™ technology, which helps reduce the problems of ground loop noise without dangerous "cheater plugs" or expensive isolation transformers. Rear analog inputs are also balanced, for cleaner signal over greater distances. Special analog processing keeps the noise floor even lower on output 2, designed to be connected to the front of an amplifier.
The original Axe-Fx was hailed for its low-noise performance; the Axe-Fx II is even better, with a 10 dB signal-to-noise improvement and the same pristine quality converters. The front panel also now features a high quality headphone jack.
The Axe-Fx II is well equipped for a future of free upgrades and updates in the tradition that established our commitment to product evolution. Watch this web site or our community pages for updates.
G2 Amp Modeling™ Technology is the pinnacle of over a decade of R&D, with major breakthroughs in both preamp and power amp modeling. G2 with Virtual Vacuum Tube™ technology creates an unrivalled level of realism in amp modeling. And onboard Tone Matching, the Axe-Fx has the built-in capability to match the sound of your live amp or recording.
Speaker simulation is the essential counterpart to great amp modelling. The Axe-Fx II uses IR convolution technology to simulate the detailed tonal nuances of great guitar speakers, with 64 factory "cabs" plus 50 memory locations so you can download or capture your own cabs for unlimited sonic potential.
The FX processing capabilities of the Axe-Fx II are among the finest you'll find anywhere. It covers the most sought-after pedal and rackmount units, all capable of delivering the great musical performances you would expect from their real world counterparts. Overdrive, Distortion, Fuzz, Wah, Whammy, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Univibe, Delay, Reverb, Harmonizer, EQ, Compression... They're all here, plus many many more. Effects are as easy to use—and sound every bit as amazing—as the models they are based on.
